The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) is an immigration program that allows the Government of the Northwest Territories (NWT) in Canada to nominate eligible candidates for permanent residency in the territory. This program is designed to attract skilled workers, business owners, and entrepreneurs who can contribute to the economic development of the Northwest Territories.
Under the NTNP, the Northwest Territories nominate individuals who meet specific criteria to the federal government for permanent residency in Canada.
The program has several immigration categories:
- Northwest Territories Employer Driven
- Northwest Territories Business Driven
Northwest Territories Employer Driven:
This stream is designed to help employers in the Northwest Territories fill specific job vacancies with foreign workers who have the necessary skills and experience.
To be eligible for the Employer Driven stream, a foreign worker must have a job offer from a Northwest Territories employer in a high-skilled occupation. The job offer must be full-time, permanent, and meet the wage and working conditions set out in the provincial labour market standards.
The employer must also apply to the NTNP and demonstrate that they have made efforts to recruit Canadian citizens or permanent residents for the position but have been unable to find a suitable candidate. They must also demonstrate that the foreign worker has the necessary skills and experience to perform the job duties.
If the employer and foreign worker meet all the requirements, the foreign worker may be nominated by the Northwest Territories government for permanent residency in Canada. Once nominated, the foreign worker can apply for permanent residency in the federal government through the Express Entry system.
The programs under this stream are:
